Long John Hunter west texas border | born in louisiana
A premier bluesman, Long John Hunter has been playing his version of Texas blues from one
end of the state to the other and south of the border in Juarez, Mexico, for almost four
decades. Hunter initially had no interest in becoming a professional musician, until
at the age of 22, some friends took him to see B.B. King. He was so impressed with
the attention King was getting that the very next day, Hunter went out and bought himself
a guitar. Within a few weeks, he put a band together and very quickly developed his
own style -- a vibrant mix of jump blues, zydeco and razor-sharp guitar playing with some
rumba boogie mixed in.
