Living Blues At the Ann
Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival in 1972 the webmaster met two of the founding publishers
of what was then a little-known mimeographed newsletter called Living Blues. Dressed
in jeans and t-shirts, they looked pretty much like everybody else in a sea of long-hairs
enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime event that featured Howlin' Wolf, Hound Dog Taylor and the
House Rockers, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, T-Bone Walker and the All-Stars, Sippie Wallace
and an unknown Bonnie Raitt, Koko Taylor, Sun Ra and His Magic Arkestra, Dr. John and many
others. (Ah, sweet audio-visual memories!) Now published by the The Center for the Study
of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi , Living Blues celebrated its 30th
year in 2000 and has become the definitive blues magazine.
